The Crewe Day Miniature Steam Up

Location:

Vernon Way
Crewe, CW1 2DB United Kingdom

Cost:

Free

Date & Time:

July 5, 2026 - 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Celebrate Crewe Day at Crewe Heritage Centre, with The Crewe Day Miniature Steam Up and free admission for the whole family on July 4th and 5th.

Held in partnership with Foxfield Railway, the event marks 189 years since the first train passed through Crewe. It’s a chance to get up close to working miniature steam locomotives, explore the town’s railway history, and bring the kids along for a weekend to remember.

The miniature railway rides are the headline draw, and you can hear the whistle blow and climb aboard as the Miniature Railway travels back in time, offering nostalgic locomotive rides for the whole family.

Other highlights include the 8000th locomotive built at Crewe Works and the APT-P – the train that was once considered the future of high-speed rail. You can also take in the historic signalling displays, watch live trains pass along the West Coast Main Line from the elevated viewing platform, and let younger visitors loose on the interactive exhibits dotted throughout the centre.

Crewe Heritage Centre is open from 10am until 4.30pm (last admission 3.30pm) on Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th.
