Six Easy Ways to Keep the Kids Busy in Crewe This Summer

The school holidays have landed, and that means one thing: keeping the kids entertained (and your sanity intact).

From full days out to quick wins between snack runs, Crewe’s packed with things to do this summer.

1. Take a wander and tick off the shopping list

The Market Shopping Centre is ideal for stretching little legs while you grab a few bits. Grand Junction Retail Park is also stocked up for those keen to sort school supplies early before the rush kicks in.

2. Picnic in the park

Pick up some bits from M&S and head to Queens Park for a proper picnic. Feed the ducks, grab an ice cream and roll out a blanket for a sunny lie-down. A budget-friendly way to spend a few hours.

3. Book a family theatre trip

The Lyceum Theatre has two family favourites lined up:

  • Horrible Histories on Friday, August 1st, with the Gorgeous Georgians and Vile Victorians
  • Taylormania on Saturday, August 2nd, for all the mini Swifties

You can check out the full show list on the Lyceum website.

4. Explore Crewe’s history – for free

Crewe Heritage Centre is offering free entry every Wednesday from July 23rd to August 27th as part of Operation Summer. It’s also open every weekend and bank holiday Monday with standard admission.

The Crewe at War exhibition runs until Sunday, October 19th. For something special, visit on Saturday, July 26th or Sunday, July 27th for the 1940s Weekend with appearances from Winston Churchill, Vera Lynn and The Andrews Sisters.

5. Let them burn off steam at the Lifestyle Centre

Multi-activity days are running until Friday, August 22nd from 8.45am to 3.30pm, open to ages 8 to 13. Each day includes sport, swimming, games and a post-lunch wind down. Timetables are available on their website.

6. Hit the beach – in the middle of town

Discover-Crewe-on-Sea is bringing the seaside to Lyceum Square. Expect real sand, a beach hut and boat, buckets and spades, and loads of free entertainment. It’s all part of the Summer Festival of Fun, with over 180 activities taking place across Crewe.
