Queen’s Park Flying the Green Flag Once Again
Queen’s Park has once again been named among the UK’s best green spaces after securing a prestigious Green Flag Award.
The park has also retained its Green Heritage Site status, recognising both the quality of its upkeep and its historic importance to the town.
The Green Flag scheme is run by Keep Britain Tidy and sets the benchmark for parks and open spaces across the country. Sites are judged on standards such as maintenance, facilities and community involvement.
First opened in 1887, Queen’s Park was gifted to the people of Crewe to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee and the 50th anniversary of the Grand Junction Railway. Today it remains a popular spot for walks, family days out and community events, as well as a reminder of Crewe’s proud railway heritage.
The award highlights the dedication of the teams and volunteers who work year-round to keep the park welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
You can find Queen’s Park on Victoria Avenue, less than a mile from Crewe town centre. To keep up to date with news and events, follow Friends of Queen’s Park Crewe on Facebook.
