Malcolm Lord and Ste Johnston Return to Crewe Lyceum for Sleeping Beauty

The duo behind one of the most talked-about pantos in Cheshire, Malcolm Lord and Ste Johnston, are returning to the Lyceum stage this December for Sleeping Beauty.
This year will mark Ste’s fifth consecutive year at the Lyceum, and Malcolm’s tenth.
Malcolm, never one to undersell a moment, put it this way: “I am thrilled to be coming back to the Lyceum, my favourite theatre. My tenth year – you must be gluttons for punishment! Is it a record? And with Ste again, I’d love to say it’s a great pleasure being with him again, I’d love to say it but… well someone has to put up with him!”
Ste said: “I’m over the moon to be back at the beautiful Crewe Lyceum for a fifth consecutive year and being reunited once again with the legend that is Malcolm Lord. I can’t wait to get back to messing around with him on stage this Christmas and bringing the brilliant Crewe audiences another fantastic panto.”

Last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk earned five-star notices and was called “comedy gold” by Theatre Flyer. Sleeping Beauty, produced by award-winning Imagine Theatre, will follow in the same spirit, and audiences can expect a villain worth booing, spectacular musical numbers, and the kind of slapstick that has the whole family in stitches.
The story follows Princess Aurora, cursed by the wicked fairy Carabosse to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into an enchanted sleep. Can anyone wake her before it’s too late?

Crewe Lyceum Theatre Director Graham McKnight said: “Crewe’s pantomime has gone from strength to strength over the years, and knowing that we have these two legends of the stage with us once again is fantastic news.”
Sleeping Beauty runs from Friday, 11th December 2026 to Sunday, 3rd January 2027. Tickets are on sale now at crewelyceum.co.uk, and if last year is anything to go by, the best seats won’t hang around for long.
