Crewe Day Festival Returns This July with Free Community Celebrations
Crewe’s annual celebration is back from Thursday, July 3rd to Sunday, July 6th – with the main event happening on Saturday, July 5th between noon and 6pm.
This free festival is all about coming together to celebrate the town’s history, community and everything that makes Crewe unique.
Crewe Day marks a big moment in the town’s past – the first trains rolling through Crewe Station in 1837, connecting Birmingham with Manchester and Liverpool. That moment helped shape Crewe into the place it is today, and the festival is a chance to remember that while having a great time.
On the main day, expect a colourful carnival procession featuring giant 13-foot Carnival Queen puppets created by Global Grooves, plus performances from local groups like TGA Street Dance, Wilderness Tribe and Stepz School of Dance. There’s also a parade with the Giant Wheel from Autin Dance, and community groups from Hopes & Beams and Camm Street Gymnastics will be taking part too.
Across the town centre, street performances and live shows will provide plenty of entertainment. You can also browse the artisan market from JDL Mini Markets and enjoy classic fun at Stanworth’s Fairground on Queensway.
Before the big day, on July 3rd and 4th, community workshops will give participants the chance to learn carnival arts and dance moves to get ready for the parade.
The festival wraps up on Sunday, July 6th with a Community Celebration Day. Local groups are invited to run their own events – like performances, open days or exhibitions – to celebrate Crewe and its people. Crewe Town Council is happy to help promote and support these activities, so if you want to get involved, just drop them a line at [email protected].
This is a fantastic way to enjoy the summer, connect with neighbours, and celebrate what makes Crewe special – all without spending a penny.
